Our Mission

The mission of Friends of For-Mar is to raise funds to support the facilities and programs in the Nature Preserve and Arboretum that exceed the normal budget of the Genesee County Park System and to sustain the vision of For-Mar as a peaceful place for environmental education.

Exciting News of our First Ever For-Mar After Dark Event

Join Friends of For-Mar for their inaugural event to support For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum. Stroll through For-Mar’s unique attractions as dusk settles, including the Barrier Free Treehouse and Butterfly House. Along your journey, discover 8 food, beverage and dessert stops, featuring curated wine, beer, and non-alcoholic pairings provided by Queens’ Provisions. The summer evening will feature music, games, and the chance to explore For-Mar in the early evening light with themed hikes. Plus, delve into the past with a photo presentation showcasing For-Mar’s rich history as a dairy farm.

For ages 21 and older. ID required to attend.
Time: 5:00pm – 8:00pm Cost: $50 per person
Pre-registration is required by 8/13/25.

Every dollar raised will directly fund the installation of a new dock at Groundwater Pond. This vital addition will offer improved access for youth learning about our local ecosystem.

IT’S HERE, THE ‘EDGE OF THE WOODS’ NEWSLETTER!

In 2023, the Friends of For-Mar designed and began distributing a periodic electronic publication. We rolled out the first edition of the ‘Edge of the Woods’ newsletter in May 2023.
